Survey for Cummins "600" fuel mileage.
I know the Cummins "600" is very new but what is everyone getting for fuel mileage? Please list type of driving, speed, and vehicle specs (trans, axle, 2wd or 4wd, etc)
I am very curious if the new H.O. is better or worse than the old H.O. when it comes to MPG.

Don't worry about fuel mileage while its brand new. Mine only got about 12 to 14 MPH.
mpg. It now has about 25,000 on the O.D. and gets 17 to 18 mpg. at 65 to 70 mph. Go pull something with it. that will help it.

well according to the overhead computer mine has been getting 12.2 mpg. I have 600 4x4 6 speed. Truck only has 160 miles on it though. Hopefully will get better. Of course if you have been reading my other posts it is running bad so maybe that has some effect on fuel effiency.
Just thinking about it.....it seems like the extra injection event per power stroke would cause the engine to consume more fuel. Maybe getting the 2004.0 cummins H.O. wasn't such a bad idea after all....

'04.5 is emission compliant and burns more fuel at idle.FWIW I got 24.2 last year this time with a brand new truck on the interstate. I am now getting 25.4 same interstate (I 75 flat and hot here) driving 36k later. I log every fillup, all mileage and calculate (by hand) every tank. Worst is 8 (did I tell you I hate winter and cold weather?) Either my truck is not broken in or your fuel mileage will suck for years to come. I think the latter. Have fun with your extra 20hp....
