stop theft of truck
stop theft of truck
i am wireing in some switches for lights, horns, etc and was thinking about a switch for to stop or slow down a theft of truck. what wire or wires would be best to cut into with a switch. it's a 2003 duelly 5.9 ho.auto trans.
thinking about doing the same as my truck doesn't fit in garage and so lives outside twentyfour/seven.
I was thinking of either the wires to the starter solenoid or fuel pump or both would be easiest to splice hidden switches into.

Get a Ravelco installed. Their website is www.ravelco.com. PM cbrahs for more information. He's the dealer that installed mine.

I will be going to see Chris (soon I hope) to get this done. Money and timming always seem a problem for me. LOL
Vote #5 - I also recommend installing the Ravelco, I have one, works great.
Since you are in Canada, would be hard for Chris to install it for you, but you CAN install it yourself, contact him about purchasing one.
There are many who have installed a switch in both the fuel pump and starter wiring, but good thieves will find a switch, the Ravelco truly does the job.

there is a dealer up there in Canada. I don't know how close he is to you but you can go to the www.ravelco.com site, click on find a dealer and there is a link to his site. I am not able to sell un-installed units. get spanked for doing so but i would contact the distributor up there and he can help ya out. call me anytime if you have any questions.

over 31 years old and over 4 million sold worldwide with zero defeats, i would say no. the only anti theft system approved in Mexico for insurance discounts. A large insurance group said that if it passed their "8" minute test, then they would approve it. After over 30 minutes, the thief gave up. so, it is approved. lol

What's the truth to the stories I heard several years ago about people using steelwool (sp?) to mess up the plug? It would somehow short out something I think is what people said.

there are all sorts of rumors to try and degrade the reputation of the Ravelco. There was even a rumor flying around in Houston that it could be bypassed with a potato. The manufacture went out and installed a unit, bought 6 different kinds of spuds, got the police, news papers, tv and lawyers there and he tried all 6 kinds of spuds. After that, the police chief in Houston wrote an apology letter to the manufacture of such rumors that were being started by the cops in his precinct. with nearly 100,000 combo's on how it is wired, disabling more than 1 circuit and having a protection circuit if someone tries to tamper with it, it will blow fuses in the distribution box leaving the rig useless. a thief is not going to hang around long enough to try to go any further. He will just go to your neighbors rig and take it.
