Stiff, noisy windshield wipers

Anyone else have noisy, stiff WWs?

Mine squeek and bounce like crazy - almost as if the rubber had hardened. But, it did this since it was new.

Has anyone changed theirs? Can you recommend a good replacement?

I change mine about every 6 months with Bosch on both my CTD and the wife's Mustang.

There are some direct-fit replacements out there which mount more securely than the universal ones that rely on those cheesy plastic adapters to fit many different arms.

I replaced with Anco replacement blades. The OEM drivers side would always chatter and bounce on the windshield. These helped initally, but are starting to do it ever so slightly. I use RainX windshield waher fluid and that helps a bit.

Clean the windshield with Wax and Grease Remover (auto parts store body shop supplies) or rubbing alcohol 3 times then with windex and put new wipers on. You will be impressed.

Bosch make a great, but costly wiper that I've been happy with.

Wipe down the windshield with comet, bon amy, what ever brand bathroom cleaner you might choose (trick done in detail shops to clean windows)

I had the same problem after a while, and actually got the mopar replacements from the dealer - they were very cheap. Anyway they work perfectly and no more noise.

I just bought new wipers from the dealer. You get the wiper and arm assembly. I paid $15 for both and they are warrantied for a year. So, if the rubber gets hard just take them to the dealer.

Are you sure you don't mean the blade assembly. The arm assembly is the part with the large spring that the blade attaches to. Mine had an arm assembly with a weak spring that would lift at freeway speeds. I purchased just the arm assembly with no blade and it cost me appx. $22.00. I could have had it replaced under warranty but once again the local dealer insisted that I make an appointment for them to screw something up. No thanks here's your $22.00 and have a nice day.
