Steering wheel radio controls?
Great instructions kinda nervous though with this being a new truck
... But I've dug into worse.
One question, is there any *approximate estimate you could give for time to remove the steering wheel and cluster on my 07. I might just have the dealer do it when I take it in for warranty work.
Also if I cut out the back of my stock wheel there won't be any weird rough edges? In other words will the switchs cover the lips around the hole or will they be in the hole?
(for some reason that sounded funny to me)

The switches do overlap the openings. This will allow for some roughness. I know mine were on one truck. Take your time...I'd say an hour for tear down. 30 minutes to do wiring. Then under an hour to replace all the pieces back. Only if I trusted that dealer wholly would I bring this to their attention. They will want a full days worth of time at customer pay rates I'm sure.

Have them quote you labor on these.
Steering wheel R&R: that should cover the airbag part.
Cluster R&R: that should include the center dash removal as it is necessary.
Together those should encompass all the labor for removing what you'll need to do this job.

you still have to do all the wiring on an 07, dodge didnt wire up a plug to the wheel to just plug in controls for trucks that had that option they had to have a different harness or guage cluster for steering controls?
also thank you ratlratl for your time and work

When the truck is built it is assembled with the proper wiring harness. Yes, it seems to me that they should just build one that has everything. It would certainly make things easier for guys like me. Especially when dealing with interior items. Many years ago, read 00-02, you would have had to change out the clockspring as well. At least now they make all of those the same. Yes, you could put this onto a base model truck if you chose to. Even better yet, to add controls when ordering the truck new, it used to be $75. Now I believe it requires purchase of an upgraded lighting pkg or the Infinity speaker system. That's some $$$. So that's why I do what do. Don't look at this as so complicated. You aren't cutting anything that is already on the vehicle, wiring related. You are only adding one circuit and one ground. The rest is just remove and replace.

Audio controls...
I have a 2000, that has audio controls... but I didn't see any plugs when I put in an after market radio.... I don't even know if I was supposed to have them, they were in the truck when I bought it. What can you tell me about the controls on a 2000?
