Steering Issues with 37" Tire

First of all I understand that when you start changing EOM with aftermarket parts you might run into some problems. With this in mind has anyone having steering issue turning a 37" tire when not moving? My steering hates turning while not moving and it does not want to move. I know I should be moving little to help the steering but man sometimes I have to turn the wheel while not moving especially when trying to maneuver a not so little Mega Cab into a parking spot designed for a Prius. The steering box/pump combo looks beefy enough that should be able to move the 37" tire easily. Heck my Land Cruiser (powered by a Hino 1HDFT Turbo Diesel) with the same size tire turns while stopped without any issues.

These trucks will do that a little even stock. I know mine will with just 285's. My only guess for a solution is crossover steering.

Get a sector shaft steering brace, really helped mine out, and easy to install.

I've never had....wait... hasn't happen YET in the 3+ years i've had 37's on my truck. But i have gone through 4 steering boxes....

As far as the parking lot for compact cars thing.... I park as far back at the end of the row as i can, and usually take 2 spots so that no one parks next to me. Saves on door dings, and gives me more room to manuver incase i have to back out.

I have on installed 3K miles ago and did not make a difference as far as ease of turning the wheel while stopped. However, it did make a difference when going down the highway...steering movement has vanished.

Maybe I need one of those hydraulic steering assist actuators. Anyone have on installed on their truck?

I have an AGR pump (the ram is sitting on my bench) on my chevy truck (1977) with 44's and sitting still you can turn the tires with 1 finger...and it's not even cross over steering, its got huge drop pitman arm....

So if they make one, seems like it would be a good upgrade for our trucks to get a better pump..

I have the same problem with my steering and it has stock tires on it, the pump and/or box also wine a little.

Cool

I always roll ever-so-slightly when turning...there`s a lot of weight over the nose of these trucks..much more than a Land Cruiser , if I had to guess

I`ve never had an issue with my steering in the 4+ years I`ve been running 37s

I try to whenever possible to be at least moving but like I said on my original post when I maneuver this barge into a parking spot designed for a Prius you will have to turn the steering sitting still just to get every angle you can. I also always back in park as it is much easier to park and get out on small areas.
Although my Land Cruiser also has an inline 6 Turbo Diesel I am sure it is at least 300-400 lbs lighter than our CTD.
So you can turn your wheel sitting still and you don't feel any stiffness on the steering wheel and the pump growling a little? Maybe I need an upgraded pump TX_Diesel is talking about.
