What size is the steering nut? I have the Defiant, and a 1 1/4" socket fits the new replacement sector shaft nut, but is too small for the stock nut.

Also, when you go to torque the new nut, what do you use, a deep socket to clear the shaft?

The stock nut is 1 5/16", I had to break out the 3/4 socket set for this one.

The new sector is 1 1/4". No torque wrench, but a box end, pull on it just short of crappin yourself.

I'm really happy with mine and the install was so easy. I now have one front end rattle left and it is the front left shock lower bushing, needs a new bolt, and bushing, did that and now I'm tight. So nice , so smooth, had alot of miles on that bolt. I did notice the Rancho 9000xl or whatever it is did not rebound, means the gas leaked out, they should exchange for free, less than a year old.

I ordered the Defiant brace and rear light brackets on Monday morning, they arrived this morning before I left for work. AZ is close to CA, but still two days is good. I spoke to Paul on the phone when I ordered, he seemed like a great guy. I haven't opened the steering brace yet, but the light brackets are 1/4" thick laser or plasma cut parts with a good powdercoat on them.

I put my brace on today. I have 52k on my '03, and the steering has always been tight, but now it's like brand new.

I like those back-up light brackets. I'll be getting some of those too!

Should help keep your steering box stable - preventative maintenance.

I attempted to install my new Defiant brace this evening, unfortunately neither the brace or the rear light mounts I purchased are correct.

Paul called and e-mailed me on Friday about the light brackets being made from the wrong file at the laser cutting shop, and said he'd send out a correct set as soon as they were available.

The steering brace is bent at incorrect angles, so the mounting area for the bearing is not perpendicular to the shaft extension. I took this picture and e-mailed it to Paul.

Here is another member's pic of theirs installed for reference:

I'm guessing that the angle for the bracket is referenced off another piece, and the press operator misread the diagram and overbent it.

I can't believe something like that would even get shipped out. They need to slow down and pay attention to what they are doing. What, no quality control at all? Inexcuseable. I hope they are footing the bill for return shipping, as well.

Apparently there are 2 guys on this forum who have reiceved the PCS brace and gotten bad sector nuts (sounds to me like this stuff is harbor freight made in china crap).
Loving the PCS brace after driving with it for 2 weeks. It's not a huge difference, but enough to make it worth the purchase. It's definetly a preventative maintenace item as I've gone through 4 steering gearbox in 2 trucks (3-2005, 1-2007) this should solve my problems.

Paul responsed to my e-mail this morning (Sunday). He said he pulled a random box off the shelf and found the same thing. He said a replacement would be on it's way ASAP.

I've been involved in some production in the past. These things happen, could be a new worker at the fab shop, etc. The customer service I've received sofar is exemplary, which goes a long way with me.
