Speedometer suck on the peg?

Ok, so this sounds very strange.

I had to boost my truck to get i going this morning, (with one of the brand new batteries I purchased several weeks ago and have yet to install )

It got a little cooler than expected and it wasn't plugged in.

So anyway,

I get the truck fired up, go and check some cows before I take off while the truck warms up. It wasn't until I turned on the highway and was getting up to speed that I noticed the speedometer wasn't working. Weird!

Thinking it would kick in any time I ignore it and check my speed via Garmin GPS.

1/2 hour later speedo still isn't working and it's then that I notice the needle is BEHIND the little stop peg at zero?

What gives and how do I fix it?

I don't think i have ever gotten 'er fast enough to wrap around and stop there.

Had it happen when I removed my speedo. With the key forward hold the rest trip meter button in for about 5 secs I believe. Then it will do that little test thing were all the gauges move and the speedo will go back to the right spot.
