I must of got the good bulbs installed special from the factory because I kinda like my lights , so does oncoming traffic ,they keep flipping their brights on, either that or they just think my truck is cool.

I put in after market lamps. Still not good enough. Then I added the factory fog lamps. 100% improvement.

-------My '03 head lights does a good job lighting up the ditches on both sides of the road but do sorry job verticle. I have about 8 mi county roads, getting to highway, with several gully's to cross, when nose of truck is pointing down hill the road going up the other side is black. There is a horizontal line that is pitch black above and satisfactory below. Wife's '97 lumina and my old '90 chevy truck lights up verticaly much better than my '03 on same hills. Down right dangerous when road goes black.....JIM

I did the same thing, PIAA's in the headlights were an improvement but not a huge improvement, I added MoPar fog lights & that helped a lot.
But the fog light bulbs were real yellow compaired to the PIAA's so I put PIAA's in the fogs too.

It's a big improvement but I'm still thinking about PIAA driving lights to help the high beams.

Maybe Someone will come out with a complete headlight replacement & I won't need the $200 driving lights!!

I threw in a pair of the Sylvania silverstars for the same issue and love them. Still not good enough but much better. I plan on upgrading the fogs to the sylvanias' too.

Alltork,

Think maybe putting in the 4.5 inch lift kit has anything to do with your headlights coming up? ...

I put the 9007 PIAA's in mine and then superglued a couple of washers to the 2 bottom bolt holes to bring the assembly up a little bit. There's not too much up and down adjusment cause there's a plastic guide tit that comes off the back of the assembly and acts as a guide when you put the assembly back in...

You can put 9006 PIAA's in the fog lamps and adjust them up too

the PIAA's were not worth the $70

there was not a noticeable difference

however I do get flashed a whole lot

I think my lights are just aimed too high

my $.02
you can give me change if you like or keep the whole thing

I think the stock lights are OK if you are driving on the freeway, but it was mentioned earlier abut the line above with no light. I also drive twisting winding roads and I too agree that it is dangerous when the road ahead dissapears in darkness. Too much of a spot straight ahead with almost no dispersion of the light, great for straight and level roads.

The '97 Dodge had the best lights of any other vehicle I have owned. Wish they had kept the old lights on the 3rd gen.

I wanted a bit more light so I BOMBed the multifunction switch so I can click on the high beams with the low beams. If I still had the fogs, they would remain on too. Cheap, (free) quick, and easy mod.

OK, I'll bite. How did you do it?

The guy on the website below has a lot to say about aftermarket bulbs.
