Arrow 315/70-17 on stock rims anybody have them? what do you think?

I have a 2004 2500 diesel with 2" leveling kit on front,3.73 gears have seen some trucks in the neighborhood with 315/70-17 on stock rims, looks great (really fills in the wheelwell) but was wondering how the ride-tire life- and how much it affects gear ratio, I dont really tow that much, mambe 3 times per year car hauler.the guy at discount tire says they could put them on but doesnt recomend them because rim is to narrow. any thoughts? thanks

I put the BFG ko on the week I bought my 07 mega and have been very happy. I ordered a 2 inch level kit but never installed it because the tires only rub a tiny bit at full lock. So far the tires have 38000 on them and they will go at least another 3000 miles or so. I wish the stock rims were wider but they worked fine so far.

Bridgestone/Firestone has released that size in an E rating. I believe they are the only ones. The Uni-T mold system= very little weight to balance. Firestone has a sale going on now.

im running BFG AT 315/70/17 on my stock rims. other than the mileage, i havent had any problems with rim width and the tires. i am however going back to 285 for the mileage, and my spare is a 285. going from the 315 to the 285 gains back around 30 tire revolutions.

I got 10% off my tach which what I wanted. No issues with mine but I have a stick so the change is negligible in 1st for power. Heavy loads and an auto you may notice.

My local Discount Tire test fit a 315 on the stock wheel. We both agreed the tire needed a wider rim. They relented on the 305's until I talked them into it. I got 37k out of the BFG AT's. Two weeks ago I found a set of H2 chrome wheels with new tires and installed them. I have a 2" leveling kit with no rubbing whatsoever. With the Power Wagon flares they sit nicely within the flare coverage area. I really did not want the H2 rims but found a good deal on them that was cheaper than buying new tires alone. In regards to it fitting, yes, it will fit but it sure seems like a problem waiting to happen to me. Personally, I would not go any larger than a 305.

Hey, Buck Nasty, any pics of the 305's on the H2 rims. I currently have 295's on my H2's and would love to see a pic of the 305's before I replace my current tires.

You will have to run a fairly low pressure in the rear to get a flat tread patch, but other wise it should be fine... But I would stick with LRE tires, they are thicker and that is needed for a HD truck.

For reference it takes 40psi or so in my rears for a flat contact patch with an empty bed (200lbs in tool box).

315's will be 8.6% taller than your stock 265's. It will make your 3.73's act like 3.42's

I have the Firestone Destination AT in a 315. So far they have been good in the rain, snow, and dry. I can feel a difference in power but it is not huge. Speedo has not been corrected yet and I am showing 6 mile an hour slower on the speedo then on my GPS. The tires raised my truck 3.5". The truck is an 06 stock suspension and has not rubbed yet.

The tires raised your truck 3.5"??? So the tires are 7" taller than stock? The 315/70s should be about 3" taller than a stock 265/70 which would raise your truck 1.5".

I'm running 35x12.50s on H2 wheels right now and will be going to a smaller higher load rated tire in the very near future. They look awesome on the truck but also need a wider wheel. I could feel a large power drop with the 35s, especially when towing and the mileage really took a hit. I'm going to jump on the bandwagon here and say the 285/75/17 will be just about the perfect size for a stock wheel and stock suspension.

Any pictures? I am on a hunt for new tires and wondered how much these sizes would look -- 285/75 and 305/70.

Had them on my 06 with and without 2 inch level kit. Ride was much better. There was minor rub at full lock on lower control arms. Switching to 285/75/17 which are a little smaller for two reasons. Front end wear with low mileage and cannot turn wheels when not moving which means pushing the limit of steering pump.

Measured right before and right after the tires where changed from the receiver and had a 3.5" difference. The 315's measure 34" tall I didnt measure the height of the stock Michelins before they came off. The stock tires were down to the wear bars with 56K on them when removed. Who knows maybe I measured wrong?

I would guess so. 315's are (on average) 3.8" taller than 265's. That means that at most the diff will be 1.9" higher (at most since the tires deflect under weight).

I run Cooper ATRs in my sig and have 50k+ on em, will need replacing this year. They've been a great tire, 'D' rated though. Stock height, only rubs a bit on a tight-full LH turn. Pics in my gallery
