2008 dodge ram 2500--Just had another spare tire stolen. It was locked with a hi tensil chain and good lock. The lock is always the weak link. Any ideas on security for a spare. I am guessing that the lock was cut, but they took lock, chain and tire. ANY HELP APPRECIATED.

get a lock that is "freon resistant". They use a can of r134a and freeze the lock, tap it with a hammer and it busts the tumbler inside. off they go with the spare.

When you say "tap" it. How light of a tap are we talking? Is it something that in the middle of the day sitting inside your house you would never notice, or do they still have to give it a little umpff where they risk being caught? I haven't had any issues with my spare being stolen but if it's that simple, I may have to add a lock like your saying just incase.
