sirus antenna sucks

Anybody have problems with the stock sirus antenna. Mine seems to lose signal alot, even driving down the open highway on a clear day. I have a cheaper sirus setup in my wifes suburban and it almost never loses signal unless you park under a gas staion overhang or under a bridge.
... seems to happen most often during a good song or during what could have been a really funny joke on the comedy stations.
thanks - Kurt

I feel your pain...

I have the aftermarket Sirius and I have the same problems you describe. I got it for a present and geez... I thought it was supposed to be better than regular radio... not really.

Same here!! In my 04.5 I used to have a little XM Roadie that would lose the signal more than the Sirius does though.

For whatever reason, the antenna that's put on these trucks are not worth a flip.

I wound up putting an aftermarket head unit in and using the Sirius Starmate as my Sirius receiver. I haven't had a problem since....

I would have someone check your connections. My antenna works fine for me, occasionally misses when passing under a bridge or lots of trees. It even picks up a signal when parked in my garage. I have had it miss when out in the open once or twice but found out later there was a lot of solar (sun spot) activity at the time.

No problems

Actually the reception has been great. I have lost it a few times when I go under and overpass but the antennae even works with the slide-in camper over it. I would ask the dealership.

Sounds like you need the wiring checked out. I had a Sportser replay that had the same reception as the Sirius in my truck. I have an SL100 now and the reception is better than the replay or the dodge radio. Seems like the sampling rate is getting better.

I too have an after-market setup with no issues. Except for the water leak in the cab from my stupidity it works fine, and no more water issues. Silicone in the third light sure worked well !!!

It works fine most of the time, but if I go under an overpass or through really dense tree lined road - it cuts out - that shouldnt happen. I understand if I was going through a tunnel, but an overpass?? All 50 feet of it..should not make the radio cut out....

I stupidly paid the dealer to upgrade my code ref radio to sirius since I was already a subscriber, back on track now, my reception is alot better with the factory setup than with sirius sportster i had in my 04. I just miss the read out of artist and track. So if anybody has a code raq radio I'm, in the market.
