Looking at a 2003 2500 with 169000km, 4spd auto 4wd. Truck has been used for plowing. Looking underneath I see dampness around the transfer case.
Dealer will fix leak and also the a/c which doesn't work.
Price is $24500CAD.
Thanks.

yeah but up here that what they go for.
Down the road they have an 05 F350 King Ranch, $50000CAD, down there $35000USD.
I'm not too concerned about the price, it's more the fact it was used to plow snow.
BTW. It's the HO Cummins. 305HP at 2900rpm.

Plowing is tough on a truck. Plowed for the past couple years and trans temps are through the roof. Also the additional weight wears the ball joints out. No matter how gentle you try to plow every once in a while you have to hammer it in order to get out of a tough spot. Honestly keep looking.

I'm gonna have to agree with the guys that are saying "stay away". If the truck was meticulously maintained I think you could make an argument for going ahead, but there is no way to know that for sure, and let's face it, plow miles are VERY hard miles on any vehicle. I think the dodge would hold up better than most, but that's a LOT of idle time (most likely) and a LOT of 4wd time on the T-case. That plow will have hit several curbs and raised cracks/expansion joints in driveways. No way around that. It's very hard on the steering, suspension and driveline. I won't even get into the salt factor.
"up here" I believe refers to somewhere in Canada. New vehicle price differences between Canada and U.S. is sick you pay $35,000 we pay $50,000 the auto manufacuters are still pricing like we have a $.65 dollar instead of $.95 to keep the margins big and they will not honour warranty if the vehicle was bought in the U.S. and imported. On used vehicles it means you can save a lot of money as warranty isn't generally as big a deal as with a new vehicle.
I have trailed 2 vehicles back for a friend that he bought in the U.S. and the process to import is very straight forward and easy I would really consider getting on autotrader.com or something similar and looking around for something stateside and bringing it back you will be surprised what you can buy for $25,000 CAD vs in Canada
