Seatcover install...rear seat back removal?

Hi folks,

Upon favorable comments posted here I ordered and received a set of CoverKing neoprene seat covers for my 2006 quad cab (with fold flat storage in the rear).

The install is pretty straightforward except for the rear seat backs. I need to get access to the rear of the seat backs in order to properly fit and tighten the retaining straps.

After staring at the darn thing for about an hour I'm coming to the conclusion that you must unbolt the whole rear seat assembly and lift it forward????

I've looked in the owner's manual for the secret latch to release the seat back to tilt forward but it's not mentioned. A few days ago there was a CoverKing thread here with a few owner's comments. How did you guys get the quad cab rear seats on?

Thanks in advance,

John

If they attach the same way the 04's do you have to unbolt the seat at the floor and lift it straight up about three inches and then you can lean it foward. Hope this helps.

Yes, they are the same. You unbolt the bottoms from the floor, and lift the seat in order to unhook two hooks from catches on the back of the cab.

Thanx guys,

I was afraid I was overlooking something really simple & obvious! I'll finish it up tomorrow by unbolting the seat.

I had them unbolted and tugged on them to the point I was afraid I was going to break something.

I double checked in the manual, then gave them a good yank straight up and they came off...

Anyway, don't be surprised if it takes a bit of effort to get them off the first time.
