Eric, I have the RB4. As luck would have it, it's the radio/nav unit that will NOT accept the hookup you were able to accomplish with your RB1.
As far as a takeover by an outside entity, it would almost certainly be in company name/billing only. No company in their right mind would come into the satellite radio market and eliminate the ability to use all of the radios already in use. They would destroy the most valuable piece of the property involved in the takeover/buyout - the current accounts. Any changes that might be made would probably involve an expansion of the number of stations and or the programming available within the government (FCC) controlled bandwidth.
In short, your equipment will still be useable and pre-paid accounts would most likely remain active until the next billing cycle - likely those folks with one year contracts would see them honored (but possibly not). For those complaining about the station selections available, they might end up benefiting the most.

I've been a Sirius subscriber for the last 3-4 years. Love it on long trips. No more listening to the same disk over and over, puting up with static when out of range, or searching for a good station to listen to when out of town..
When we get tired of listening to music we head straight for the comedy channels..
My Eclipse head unit is Sirius ready, but i like the portability (and the ability to record live programing, as well as download music on it) of the Stiletto 100 so i havnt set up the Eclipse. I just bought the hard wire kit from Best Buy and will be taking on that challenge this weekend...
I wasn't very happy getting the email from Sirius stating that they were up'ing the price of the 2nd subscription, from 6.99 to 8.99, AND would also now be charging 2 or 3 bucks a month to listen on line.

Yeah sounds great. You take a long trip every now and then. Other than that its just a radio. With the exception that it costs over $100 a year. No thanks I can listen to Clasic Rock on 4 different local stations for free. plus I dont have to mistakenly get Stern blabing away through my speakers. No thx
