Resetting TIPM?

Can a resetting of the tipm only be done with a Starscan or will unhooking the batteries completely for an hour or so do it? Are there any fuses inside of it that can be replaced? Gonna unhook it today and look for any signs of corrosion underneath it. I still don't have a left rear turn signal and this is pissing me off.

Or is there anyway to just bypass the tipm left rear turn signal circuit to just get the thing to work.

If your speaking of the '06 in your signature, yes Dodge or someone with their scan tool has to re-set it. A poor design indeed...

That I don't know, but if you have it reset I would imagine they would be able to tell?

Thanks BigIron70. I don't have any codes though and the turn signal worked for about 2hrs. after I bought the truck then quit. I'll take it in and see what they say. Any way to just bypass the **** thing?

I assume you have checked the wiring to verify if there is power going to the light or not??? If it were me, and I didn't want to bother with it anymore or just didn't want to spend a bunch of $$$ for a dealer visit, then I would simply get a length of wire and splice into the front turn signal. Or, better yet, if there is power at the secondary trailer plug I would splice into that. In fact, back when I had my 03 truck I had to do just this because one of my tails wasn't working right. I can't remember if it was running lights or turn signal but I know I fixed it easily......

I thought about that but the '06 ^ have the tipm instead of a standard fuse box to control the lights and a couple of other things. I'm afraid if I tap into anything I run the risk of the tipm seeing a voltage change and shutting down the output signal to the front turn signal which is what I think happened to the rear. I only need this thing to work for about 5 min. to get the truck state inspected so I can tag it. I could care less if it works or not but they will never pass it if it isn't working. Sux

I'd still try tapping into the trailer plug to get it working even if only for that day.

$1000 to have a turn signal work correctly when all it should take is a simple fuse. Once again technology not in our favor.

My exact sentiments Fortunately like heminfiver my TIPM was replaced under warranty about a year ago, but if there's a next time my wallet will most likely be much lighter, thank you Chrysler engineers

Well speaking of electrical probs heres my dilema. My fogs are wired to a aftermkt switch that is powered up from a jumper wire from the left pking light. With this I had the relay go bad so I replaced it and did the "fogzilla" at the same time. Now after about 15 min. with them on it will blow the #34 fuse, which is 10 amp. and shut down left front and rear pking lights and the left license plate light.... Help TIA

Jim
