I'm ready to find the 2006, 3500 srw, sb, the way I want it. I like the option of the Jake brake for the auto tranny and the fact that it has T/H and OD lockout. Looking at this one I'm ready to make a move if I can locate the right one. I'ts a very good looking ride,IMO, and now my fever is even hotter. Gota have one!

1st pic
does it look like the front of the hood slopes down more?
is it more aerodynamic? (meaning more mpg?)

In the SLT config can you get it without the fake woodgrain?

Badge engineering to me.

That is a **** nice looking truck. I wasn't sure how I'd like the new grill/jumbolights, but I think they look really good. Of course the 35" MTs help too

Talking

I have to say that is a beautiful truck!! I just went outside to look at mine in the driveway! Thats right I just got one on Friday and it is soooooo much nicer than my '99 was. Got tired of replacing lift pumps, transmissions and dealing with horrible fuel mileage. Then there was a sign..... a commercial for a dealership in Bellevue WA. selling the '06 for employee pricing!! I didn't get home till midnight but showed up with a 06 3500, 6 speed , 3.73 gears, Big Horn Edition, SLT, LB. I LOVE IT! Already got the same mileage out of half tank that I used to get on a full one. AMAZING! BTW mine does have the woddgrain on the dash and doors also. And I know I need to change my sig. I just noticed that.

I got to see one over the weekend at a local diesel event. I've never been a fan of the 3rd gens but the Mega Cab changed my mind. I convinced my husband that when the 01 gets paid off will look into one of those as longs as its still got the cummins in it. Then that will be the daily driver and the 01 will be turned into a major sled pulling toy.

I like my 05 alot better. The floor console with cup holders makes the center seat useless, the folding utility tray is plastic and I still haven't warmed up to the new front end.

Took two for test rides the other day......First off, I like the new seats. A lot more comfortable than the 03 and 05. I drove a SLT 2500 Quad Cab LWB Diesel and I liked that it had the optional power sliding rear window. But I could do without the fake wood grain. The floor console makes the middle seat useless to me. Plus, you lose the cubby hole area with the rear power slider as they put the switch there. Then I drove a Sport 2500 Quad Cab SWB and it had the flip down cup holders, which I like more then the floor mounted console. I noticed that the little secret hidden compartment under the middle seat (wife doesn't know it's there) is not as deep in the new trucks. The first pics I saw of the '06 didn't impress me much.....but the look has grown on me. Plus I noticed a few new colors. They had 1 megacab that was OK. Had the power sunroof and heated front seats, rear power sliding window....No DVD player, but looked good overall. It doesn't look proportional though with the short bed. Hope they come out with a long bed SRW and Dually option.

I don't think the woodgrain looks bad. Classes it up a little. As for the cup rests on the floor hump up front really doesn't bother me because I got the 6- speed. Either way most of the room would be taken up. If it were an automatic I wouldn't like it one bit though.

Why they put all those cup holders on the floor is beyond me when they were neatly stowed before. Makes your third front seat passenger pretty fidgity trying not to step on them. The previous set up made more sense to me.

The fake woodgrain. Why decorate a truck?

Guess I'll have to live with it.

I noticed the Mega Cab has Air Vents in the rear.....I think the floor mounted cup holders, and shallower hidden compartment under middle seat allow for some air ducts underneath to ventilate the rear.
