how do I get the tail light cover off to replace a light bulb?

 

After you remove the screws located on the inner edge (where the tailgate is in the closed position) the unit is still held on by posts that insert straight in. You have to pull hard to pop the assembly free.

Once removed, you will want a towell or the like to protect the CHEAP paint from the hanging assembly.
