Question Remote start and Sentry key?

I would like to add a remote start to my truck but, according to the manual, they're not compatible with the Sentry key. Does anybody know a way to make this work?

Take the battery out of the sentry key. That's what I did.

you need a "bypass kit" for your truck and it should work with most alarms.

The bypass kit is basically a piece of hardware that sends out the same signal your key does.

You could be ghetto and tape a spare key to your steering column, but that defeats the purpose of the sentry keys completely and you'll have no security.

On another note, there are lots of bypass modules out there.

I did quite a bit of research on which one is the "best" but ended up getting a regular module and using some relays for the lights and doors.

I bought a code alarm chrysler module from ebay and it is IDENTICAL to the DEI module (looks like DEI bought them out) except the inflated price.

I installed one in my old 06, it was quite a job with the way these trucks are wired. One bypass you put under the dash and put a key in the box, the better bypass (which I used) goes under the dash and a wire gets fed through the steering column and wrapped around the key cylinder. You then take your key apart to remove the transponder, cycle the key to program the key and the truck learns the box you put in via the wire wrapped around the key cylinder. If the alarm is triggered no signal is sent so the sentry system stays active.
