Question Reflash- How to Stop It?

I get a good 20 mpg with my 2003 HO Dodge 6 speed 2500. Definitely don't want the dealer to reflash it and kill the mileage.

Any of you guys up to explaining how to padlock the ECM? If you could tell or show me how to do it simply with a padlock, that would be great. I'm no Dodge Ms. Goodwrench!

Just tell them you dont want it done. I dont see how you would be forced to have a reflash done.

I had my truck in at the dealer last Friday for some A/C work and they did the C02 flash. But so far I can't tell a difference. Drove 200 miles Yesterday with a full tank and it appears no change in fuel economy from the fuel gauge indication, maybe a little better.

Have you been reading a Ford site? I didn't think there was a problem with the flashes from Dodge over the long term.

Your vintage of truck would be a 305/555 engine. I believe that the reflash/mileage problem is isolated to the 600 engine.

Count your lucky stars.

Nevada,

Thanks much for your reply. As you noted, I have the 305/555 engine, not the 600. I believe you are mistaken about Dodge dealers not reflashing the 305/555. Please note the reply from MikeyB I received. My truck is nearly identical to his, and he noted the dealer recently reflashed his when he took it in for repairs.

I LOVE the mileage my "diesel boy" gets, and it would kill me to have the dealer spoil my fuel economy. Have you ever heard of a padlock solution to my problem? If so, do you know how to do it?

I would ask J Body if the DC ECM can put a password in the Calibration , on the Cummins ECM we can enter a password so that nobody can change any parameters or enter a new calibration (reflash) into the ECM without knowing the password. but still allow you to view all you want but not make any inputs.
