Receiver hitch?
Receiver hitch?
I am looking at an 06 2500 4door 5.9 Auto. I can't see any numbers stamped on the receiver hitch but in the "rubber" on the stock rear bumper it says 5000lbs and 500lbs tongue weight. Is that for the bumper if you put a ball on it. BTW, the window sticker (removed and placed in the glovebox) indicated it is equipped with the "trailer towing package".
Surly it doesn't have a class III hitch on a truck that can pull 13,000lbs.

i just looked in my owner's manual for an '05 2500. on page 288 it states that the class IV, which is part of the trailer tow package, "you can tow a trailer with a gross trailer weight of up to 12,000 lbs. maximum depending on your vehicle equipment. Tongue weight must be equal to at least 10% of the gross trailer weight, but no more than 15% of the gtw"....hope this helps
The stock hitch needs a weight distributing system to achieve the rating of 12K. The number stamped on the bumper is for the bumper if you mount a ball on it. I could not believe they put such a junk receiver on them as original equipment. Changed mine out.
