I guess I won't be taking my truck into the dealer for anything now. The reason is because dealers have a habit of doing recalls, no matter what the customer wants.

...and if they don't guess who gets in trouble!

Personally I agree that this "recall" is a VERY bad bandaid to a problem that could be corrected with an updated parking pawl detent. I had four very good customers come in today inquiring about this recall. After explaining it to them and showing them how it works in the 06's, they all declined. We simply wrote the RO, had the customer sign that they denied the install, and left it at that. For those wondering.....this DOES NOT, I repeat, DOES N O T ! ! have anything to do with the ECM. If you are wanting or needing any upgrade to the ECM for an engine or trans issue, it WILL NOT enable this feature. The flash procedure is a bit different for the recall and changes programs in the cluster and fcm.

Any idea if they would 'Undo' the recall for free, if the truck is out of warranty?

I'm still irritated by this...pathetic patch.

i dont plan on this recall either... once I jump out... whats the horn gonna do to stop the truck? I mean really. the way I figure it, I know what I'm doing, and if it fars outta gear and hits something, it's fate that it was meant to be hit

Brought my 05 in last week for oil change and weather stripping, and they installed the recall a day before I received the notice. If you open the door and take your foot off the brake before it's in park- the horn sounds. The obvious annoying problem is if you back up to align to a trailer hitch or something with the door open uyou get the horn. I don't like it or don't need it.

I wish my dealer would let me just sign off on it, but they won't. Personally, I don't care how it's done because I don't like what it does.

Thinking about what this feature does, I think Dodge screwed the pooch on this fix. They made it so annoying, once people find out what it does, they don't want it done.

have mine in for the recall,,bad lift pump to,,anyways the service manager called me to tell me the lift pump was bad so they are replacing that with the in tank unit,,asked him if dodge would give me my money back for the rear pumper i had to replace because the dam thing slipped out of park while running and hit a tree,,, i was routed to chrysler investgation unit,,HERE IS WHAT THEY TOLD ME ,,the guy said i didn"t have it all the way in park,,so it was my fault, i told him i got out of the truck and it wasn"t moving,,when i put it in reverse it will move as soon as i take my foot off the brake,,he told me the only way to really know it is in park is to take the key out( which i failed to do because i was letting the truck warm up on a cold winter morning) if the key won"t come out then it isn"t in park,,so he said it wasn"t there fault,,hmmm must be a new 2004.5 feature,, all i wanted was the lousy $288.00 the bumper i got on ebay costed, he also said i should have turned it into my insurance company and had them pay for it,,,oh yeah right!,,i have $500.00 deductable

Got mine today. Don't think I will get it done to mine. I have never had it fall out of park.

Just went to the dealership today. I had bought my 04 from the US and I need a recall clearance to register it here in Canada. Anyways he told me I had a recall due on it and they haven't even got information on how to do it yet. Wish I wouldn't have procrastinated so long on this cause I wouldn't need it had I done it before the 22nd. So it looks like I will have to get it done on mine. Anyone know exactly how to get around this problem? I'd like to remove it after its done as I back up with the door open too.

Don't know if it will work or not but read that if you take a piece of wire and place it across your seatbelt buckle and push your buckle in. That when you take out the buckle, it will stay in there so the alarm does not go off. But some concern is that there is a piece of wire in there making contact at all times. I don't know how warm that would get.

I took my truck in Wednesday to have the tranny fluid changed and new door seals put on. They installed this nice little feature on my truck while they had it and told me now they can't remove it. I don't think they were to happy when I said I would be out on the internet searching for a way to disable it but I could care less. I will be watching for a work around on this.

This is pointless, because whether or not the seatbelt is on, it still makes the alarm go off.

In other words, if I have my seatbelt on, open my door, put it in 'R', and let off of the brake...my alarm will go off. The seatbelt being on doesn't help.

Got my recall notice in the mail last week. Just trying to determine if I want to bring it in for this repair or not.

I received the recall last week for my '05. I am NOT getting it done. I don't need anyone telling me my truck is in park. Besides, I use neutral and my parking brake most of the time when checking the mail... I don't like the way with the mopar transmissions the pump for the transmission does NOT cycle fluid in park, but it will in neutral. I can't see compromising the life of my transmission by using park when the engine is running.
