RB1 nav with sirius

Any install the factory sirius satilite radio to there RB1 navigation system? does any know which kit I need if I want to install the song and artist cable. Each factory sirius kit is vehicle specific.

Thanks
Robert

robert,

i just installed the factory siruis radio in my truck a few days ago. i will try to post pictures of the install tormorrow. it was very easy to do. maybe 2 hours tops. i don't have the part number for the install kit but if you go to the dealership just tell them for the ram. the install kit for the ram and dakota are the same. i have the rb1 and the sirius radio displays all of the artist and song info on the screen.

the hardest part of the install is drilling a 3/4 inch hole in your truck.

Thanks Britt for the info I'll be looking forward to seeing the pictures. The reason for my question is that I saw a wiring diagram that showed that you have to run a cable from the sirius reciever to a multiplex splitter box and then from the splitter box to the RB1 to get the song and artist to appear on the screen. Did your kit just run from the reciever to the RB1? By the way I got my nav system from the same guy you did.

robert,

yes. just one wire from the sirius tuner to the back of the rb1. it is really plug and play. like i said, the hardest part for me was drilling a hole in my truck. my hands were shaking after i got done.

you will enjoy the rb1 and the siruis radio. the sound is great.

Man....you have no idea!

About half way through drilling this hole the hole saw started slipping. I had to stop and tighten up the drill bit and start again. OMG!!!

I can tell you from experience, this is the worst thing that I have ever done to one of my vehicles. The finished product was worth it though and I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else doing this job.

If you were thinking about doing this install you will have to drill the same hole in your roof. I just didn’t have enough room to remove the third brake light because of my camper shell.

Still…..WOW!

im hoping my dealer gave me the wrong price for what i need. i have the nav radio and called for the sirius set up like u discribe and he is telling me it is 2 kits. one with the reciever and anttena for $ 179.00 witch its ok but $ 125 for the one wire to connect the sirius to the radio? a little much. so a total of about $325 with tax. shoot. thats 3 yrs service on my mobile sirius unit. and if i call up the manager and told him that the salesman when i asked about it told me its either nav or sirius, would he be able to give me a better price since i just bought the truck 2wks ago? thanx

price sounds pretty close. it is 2 different kits. one for the tuner and antenna and one for the mounting kit. it is pretty high but it sure is nice and it is plug and play.

as far as the manager goes... it won't hurt to ask.

welcome to the site by the way!
