Doors and Snow
Doors and Snow
This whole snow on my seat when I open the door is getting on my nerves. I know I can live with it but I'd rather not. I'm guessing when I open the door some kind of vacuum is pulling the snow in. Does anyone know if these trucks have any kind of vent system other than the heating and A/C that would allow air to leave and enter the truck. On most of my old trucks there was some kind of vent toward the rear of the cab or on the doors to circulate air. I've had my enitre interior gutted out and have not seen any kind of vent system toward the rear or on the doors. I assume the no air vent option on these trucks helps reduce interior noise but causes the cab to create a vacuum when the doors are closed.
I'll be the guinne pig and try something. I was thinking of installing some kind of vent on the rear of the cab. Any ideas?

One has to open the door to get the brush before one can brush off the door before opening it.
A brush in the hand is worth two inside the cab.
At least with most of your trucks, the roof is still within reach to give it a quick brush with the hand.
The guy that thought up todays configurations needs to be thumped.
Give me a good ole fashioned 1970's vehicle with gutters over the doors anytime.

I knew someone was gonna throw in the Flordia factor. Same here with the brush theory you have to open the door to get the brush out.
Once it warms up I'm taking my rear seats out and am going to figure something out. I need to figure out how big on an opening I need to acheive no vaccuum. I will have to wait for snow again before I can get the vent size nailed down. I have remote windows on my truck so I can at lest crack the windows from outside the truck before I open the door.

Why not just buy a second brush? I have one I leave at home, and one I leave in the truck (in case I'm at work and it's snowing). Or just leave your brush in your bed that way it's there and always ready.
I second the gutter over the door comment. I miss straight up and down windows with gutters over them. You used to be able to drive around in the rain with the window open if you wanted to, now you can't even have it open a crack without it dripping inside.
I think the problem is after driving slow in a snow , it builds up so when one tries to get out that little drift go down the neck! I found that floor vent on high and a slow door opening does the trick. Always leave drivers door open til I get my stuff off of back seat so I can lock doors without sounding horn behind my building at work. Like the horn in other places, just not there. Also the engine stays running while I'm going thru this ritual(habit now)to let the turbo cool a little.Just before I close the door, I flip the **** to full defrost as I,m grapping my phone and crack all the windows about a inch or so.This helps alot for the vacum problem when opening the doors next time. My 2 cents BTW don't do this in warm weather if spiders are a problem in your area , they love the vent sheilds in this area.

Back in the 70's GM had a cromed plastic rain gutter that just stuck on with the 3m glue backer. My pop bought a 79 that had it over the passenger door but the left side installer was AWOL from the job so the drivers side didn't have it How I remember it so well). The dealer ordered the part and installed it. That is one option. I perfer the brush in the bed and one near where I park at home.
