Radio Removal
Radio Removal
2007 Quad Cab SLT 4x4. Standard grey/brushed bezel. Floor console with transfer case shifter.
Trying to remove the radio bezel, so I can remove the radio. At the top and the sides, it's the standard pull out latches. At the bottom of the bezel, there are two screws that come up from the bottom. How do you get to those two screws?
I tried removing the plastic panel between the bezel and the console, but there must be a fastner somewhere that I can't see. If I could get that lower recessed panel out, I think I could get to the two screws.
Nothing's ever easy.

Found it. Like I'v said many times - Google is your friend.

Got it done. Total about 90 minutes. Most of that time is used to R&R the console. What a pain in the neck that was. Some of the screws are hard to get to, and some can only be seen with a mirror.
The radio itself couldn't be any easier. Remove 4 7mm screws, and pull the radio out. Unplug everything, and then plug it back into the new one.
The satellite radio, multi-disc MP3, AM/FM all work like they should. I'm very happy with my $150 investment.

I just removed my radio about 2 weeks ago to install a wire harness to give me 2 mp-3 ports. I removed the screws you mentioned but could not remove the cup holder unit. Finally lost both screws trying to re-install. Good news was I was able to pry off the radio panel without removing anything else and had access to the radio to complete the job. Not sure why they tell you to remove the cup holder , it wasn't necessary for me.
My console had two 8mm screws hiding under the cup holder. Can't get anything apart without taking the cupholder out first. Then the back half of the console, then the front half, the the horizontal panel, and finally, the radio bezel. What a pain.
As a side note, there's one thing I'v always liked about Dodge trucks. All the consoles, cup holders, and cubby holes have a no slide rubber base that's easily removable for cleaning.
