Question about Farm Bureau discount?
Question about Farm Bureau discount?
On the other board, someone was complaining because their dealer wouldn't honor the farm bureau rebate because of the steep discount already granted to him.
Who pays the rebate? The dealer or DC (or both)? I haven't told my dealer yet that I'm planning on claiming the FB rebate. I hope there's not gonna be a pissing contest over this.
Does anyone know how this works?
Thanks,
Neil

Tommygun was the man selling to the person. He has a deal set up with DC that allows him to sell at 3% below any dealers invoice plus the rebate plus a regional discount. I just ordered one from him a week ago and I also wanted to use the Farmers Bureau disc. DC is the one who discounts the FB rebate, not the dealer so DC would take an even bigger hit.
I also have a question. I bought my truck in Nov(got screwed) and did not know I was a farm bureau member already because I am with country companies. Can I go back and get the discount now? Should I go to the farm b. or the dealer? can I go around the dealer somehow?

Cannot be combined with commercial program, DC's Employee advantage, Dealership employee purchase, Friends program or certain other certificate programs.
There are other restrictions but those are the major ones.
Dan
Dan,
OK. None of those apply to me. How about the regular old factory incentive rebates? Can we combine with them? I've seen plenty of folks on here that have claimed to.

Yep. You can combine the FB rebate with the factory incentives (like the $2500 a while ago or the current 0%/$2000 rebate).
Blownaway.....I'd talk to your dealer first. If they don't give you the answer you need then call DC. The money comes from DC so it won't do any good to call the Farm Bureau (I don't think).

As long as you are not using any other certificate program every dealer must honor the farm bureau rebate. And the other comment about a certain dealer who has a special deal with DC that lets him sell for 3% under invoice is false. All of us dealers recieve 3% "holdback" from DC on every new vehicle sold. I really do not consider the 3% profit, I figure it goes to pay the interest and cost of operation. If a dealer is giving away the 3% it is not a special deal from DC, it is just that dealer is getting awful hungry for his quota money and thats where he is banking on making it up.

I will have to dissagree a little with this. I am not sure he does receive a discount with DC, that is what he told me. As far as every dealership getting the same deal, I have been searching since November for a good price on a truck from Dodge. I live in New Jersey, and we have about 50-100 dealers in the state. The truck I am looking for has a sticker price of $47,000. The best deal I could find in NJ was $40,100 with rebates (no farm Bureau rebate included). So I searched out of state. Best I could find was $39,000 in North Carolina, 700mi away (no farm bureau rebate included) so I was going to buy there. Then over on TDR, I saw a dealer , 1000 + miles away and contacted him and he came up with $37500. But then I found out about the FB discount and asked. He told me the story about the deal he has with DC and THEY would not apply it because there is already a very large discount.
I am paying cash for this truck. It took me a year and a half to save the money so any dollar I spend extra comes directly out of my pocket. So if every dealer gets the same discounts on selling, how come no-one even came close to this dealer? He has sold this deal to about 30 people on another board. So I dont think it is just a Quota thing. He can sell it to anyone, financing or not. I also am having the dealer drop ship it from the manufacturer directly to NJ. It will cost me $350 extra sent to my dealer, but the same $850 destination charge and saves me a $250 flight and 15hr drive back and fuel.
I dont want to start anything with anybody, just wanted to tell the deal I got.
I am not trying to start anything either. I just want the truth to be known. The fact is every dealer including me, I don't care if he sells 2 trucks a year or 2,000 trucks a year, pays the same price for these trucks. We all give invoice and then DC gives us our 3%holdback on top of that, and that is what he is giving you. Most dealers wont do that, but as I said before he must be hungry for numbers for his quota. If he makes it he gets several hundred dollars on every unit, as well as our salesperson bonuses direct from DC. If he is a gold certified salesperson such as I am he gets $125 put in a debit account for every unit he moves, DC pays this also. I am only about 65 miles from the above persons dealership and know several people who work there and they are an honest and reputable dealership just as we are. I do not know Tom personally, but I am sure he is honest and reputable just like his dealership. I just want to clear this up about this "special deal". We all buy them at the same price, some dealers are just a lot hungrier than others.
luke s,
in a post (you?) made on another site there was some indication about medium duty trucks and cab and cassis 3500 dodge trucks coming out in the future.
Any indication when? (or even a wild guess)
Days?, months?, or years???
