Regarding the Farm Bureau Rebate...

How does the deal work? I know I have to be a member for 30 days before I can take advantage of the rebate. But do I already have to have my 30 days in BEFORE I order, or just before I take delivery? Is there a rebate form I have to get from my Farm Bureau, and will my local farm bureau even know what I'm talking about? Do I have to send it in and wait for a check, or do I get the rebate off of the purchase price when I take delivery, like the factory rebate?

I guess I'd just like to hear from those who have joined the Farm Bureau JUST to get the rebate, and how they handled it.

Sorry for all the question marks.

Thanks,
David

I ordered my truck before I joined. Joined and checked on insurance quotes before delivery. When the truck showed up, I went by the office to pick up the rebate form then on to the dealer to get my truck. The rebate is taken right off the top, no waiting (except for the 30 days as a member).

Go for it - $500 is $500.......

Good questions.

The rebate says, "must be a member for 30 days prior to PURCHASING the truck". My salesman told me that the order date doesn't matter. It's when you actually sit down at the table and sign the papers to buy the truck.

The rebate is from Dodge, not the Farm Bureau. This is an assumption but you'll probably get the rebate when you're at the table signing papers. Again, call your salesman or even better, call Chrysler cust. service at 1-800-992-1997 to verify.

Go to www.fb.com and then navigate your way to your state's FB page. I found this on the Texas page at the top under "Member Benefits":

Here is a quick summary of program rules:

1. You must have been a TFB member for at least 30 days prior to the vehicle purchase. If membership has expired, it must be renewed and in paid status for at least 30 days prior to purchase. Any question regarding eligibility of membership should be clarified by contacting the TFB state office in advance of the vehicle purchase.

2. Texas Dodge dealers have been issued copies of the "Dodge Bonus Certificate for Texas Farm Bureau Members." They are also available at your local county Farm Bureau office.

3. This program may be in addition to some other Dodge rebate programs currently being offered.

Good luck with your truck order!

Thanks for the replies. I went at lunch and joined up! What an amazing deal--$500 off for a $25 membership fee.

Now if I can get my dealer to match a price from Tomeygun over on TDR, I'll be looking at some pretty steep discounts off of invoice.

Thanks again!

I'd like to piggyback another question concerning the FB on this thread. Can you join a FB in another state if the dues is cheaper? It's a minimum $50 in MA.

Has anyone heard of anyone having problems at the dealer because they joined in a state they weren't a resident of? Would a dealer, or DC, really care?

I'd even take it a step further. Do they care if people join just for the rebate? Do you get a lot of marketing crap from them?

They don't ask why you're joining.

I've been a member for 1 month now and haven't received any junk mail from them.

I have been a Farm Bureau member for nine years. I originally joined for the 10% discount I get from Nationwide Insurance on my auto policies. I have never received any junk mail from the Farm Bureau. You do get a Farm Bureau magazine subscription. It costs me $48.00 per year but the savings have far out weighed the membership costs. Two CTDs @ $500 each plus $140 per year for nine years on my insurance. Not bad!

I wonder how many other people who've done the FB thing realize there are other benefits. $500 back, plus getting an insurance discount? Know of any other bennies? (Boy, rereading this makes me sound like a cheapie doesn't it? )

I'll have to check with my insurance company. Thanks for the tip.
