Quad 4x4 ball joints

Hello all and happy Memorial Day,

I'm in need of ball joints and boy are they expensive. After doing a search for them, some of you guys have used www.quad4x4.com ball joint kits. Just wanted some reassurance before ordering them so I don't make a mistake on the right part number and so on. Also if it's a good product.

Part # I found was QK4586 AAM 925 W2500/3500 front axle ball joint kit.

thanks a lot for any opinions,

Jamie

I had the dealer do mine, at under 30 thousand miles, no charge for the repair, parts, or rental while they did them & the number 1 injector.

Haven't used them but it appears to be the correct set for your truck. Hope you have access to a press. Their's seems a bit steep to me. Don't know how much SPX Miller wants for their set. Anyway good luck.

Just making sure of one thing. Are you absolutely sure you need them? I took my truck in and the diesel shop said I needed them. Took the truck to the dealer and they said I didn't need them, all I had was a bad steering stabilizer. I have been running 2' Daystars and 35's for the last 40,000 miles or so and haven't had any front end issues except for this and shocks. Just figured I would play devil's advocate before you spend a lot of money. Good luck.

Yeah I need them, at 95K and mostly running 315s. I've had them checked by two different techs and both say I need the front right done. Left can wait a while.

I just figured I would ask. Are the quad ones more heavy duty than stock? I will be looking to add a heavier duty balljoint due to snowplowing in my truck when the time is right.

The Quad joints are OEM quality. I have them on my truck.
When I bought them there wasnt nothing else available.
My passenger top joint was bad at 22k miles.
You can now get MOOG uppers and Napa Upper/Lowers (I think they are TRW).

To respond to the post above about the dealer saying their fine:

I wouldnt trust a dealership as far as I could throw one.
Of course they will say that to get out of a warranty claim!!

Pourin, you are absolutely right and I feel the same way as you about dealers. However, this was a mechanic at the local family owned dealer who I have known for many years and wouldn't jerk me around or let me drive an unsafe vehicle. I bought the truck at a larger "highway" dealer and wouldn't take my truck there to get the oil changed. I had it there once to get the speedo recalibrated, and I had to take it back again because they didn't do it right, even after I gave them the revolutions per mile of the tires and pretty much told them how to do it.

Sorry to hijack your thread. Carry on....

I had another shop look at the truck and tell me that the balljoints were bad. Quote me $1000 for the job. Turned out one of my tires was bad.
