Problems with Intermittent Wipers on 04?

Anyone else have any problems with the intermittent wipers on their 3rd gen trucks.
Mine will work sometimes and not others and when they do work, they cycle 3-4 times before pausing.
I've pulled the column apart and inspected everything. I haven't found the actual relay module yet to check it's connections, and I'm going to pull the cowling off this weekend to have a look at the motor and connections.

I was just wondering if this has occured before or if this is isolated to my truck?

YES!!! I am having an intermitant problem also. However mine come on when ever they want to. I have replaced the multifunction switch and now dodge is telling me to replace the Front Control Module, ie replace the wiper motor because this module is inside.

the only time mine come on, on their own is when I pass a highway truck and the wind shifts the blades enough to contact the swiper circuit that allows them cycle to home. I would agree that this would be a problem that resides in the motor module itself.

There are a few other members with similar issues as mine, and I would be interested to hear if there is a seperate control module or if it's all built into the wiper assembly. Some members have already replaced the multifunction switch with no improvement so I'm looking elsewhere. I had mine apart this past weekend and found nothing wrong with it.

YES, I just noticed this a couple weeks ago.
It's random, some cycles it works right, sometimes it will take 2-4 extra passes before it pauses.

mine were messed up too. They wouldn't go down all the way when i turned them off.(about an inch high) The dealer said it was the module. What was cool, is that it is all one assembly, the moter, module and control arms. Something like 600 dollars worth of parts. Thank goodness warranty covered this one....

I checked my dealer last night and it's one complete motor/controller unit for $200cdn. That's not bad at all. $600 installed sounds a bit steep though. Sounds like it's not an isolated incident though and Dodge may go good for it eventually, keep your receipts.

I'm starting to experience the same problems...
- Randomly doing 2-3 passes when set to intermittant mode
- Occasionally one random pass while driving on a sunny day

Can anyone corfirm that's it's due to a bad module on the wiper moter assy?

I sold my 04 and bought a 2002 and it hasn't done it once in 50,000 miles.

Mine would ONLY do the slow intermittent sweep unless I pushed the fluid switch, then they would do the three sweep. Plus, they would be on all the time, I had to run with the Fuse out or my wipers would sweep every 10 seconds.

Replaced the multi-function switch with one from the auto dismantler and life is great! In other words, I would start with the Multi-function switch.

Mine does it too. I believe that the park switch inside the motor module is not making good contact, so the wiper controller does not know where the wipers are and keeps looking for the park position. I was planning on trying to take the motor apart to clean the switch. I haven't pulled the cowl yet, so I don't know if it is possible or not. Hate to spend a ton of coin on a new motor just for a little switch.

It is the mutifunction switch. Replace it and you should be good to go.
