problem with battery
i noticed my volt gauge was low-so i popped my hood and noticed that the battery on the passenger side was venting out battery acid and making a hissing sound. what gives?? looks like the battery is going to explode! is this a sign of overcharging? bad regulator? bad alternator? am i able to start the truck, then disconnect the battery, so i can get it to the dealership?
Please fill out your signature so we know what year and options you have.
If it were me, I'd take that bad battery out and drive it to the dealer in some other vehicle. Then put the new battery in the truck and then drive the truck to the dealer or Autozone to see if the charging system is doing OK.
If you don't have another vehicle, then the next thing I'd try is disconnecting that battery altogether, cover the battery cables with rags or tape so they don't short, and then run on just the one battery. The batteries are wired in parallel so it's possible to run on just one.
