power steering leak

While under my truck the other day changing the oil I noticed a leak from the rack and pinion (the cast piece). I could see an accummulation of pink power steering fluid. It must be a very slow leak because I haven't noticed any drip spots under the truck but it is definitely dripping. Have any of you experienced this yet? My truck only has 22,000 miles on it.

Yup mine is doing the same thing...can't figure out where its leaking from. I may be taking it back in and letting the dealer figure it out unfortunately .

My steering gearbox also developed a minor leak from the upper seal just a few weeks ago. Took it to the dealership and they replaced the whole gearbox under warranty.

It's been suggested the PS pump might be the source of a slight oil film I saw.

I saw a film on the ground bolt just below the computers. There wasn't enough to easily trace it to a source. Mine showed up at 20,000 too.

Should I worry? can I ignore for a while? Don't really have the time for a dealer appt

Interesting. I too found a leak in that area over the weekend. Couldn't locate the exact location of the leak but definitly coming from the power steering pump. Seems like an awful lot of people with the same issue.

I wish it was a really obvious leak. Hard to justify bringing it in and the dealer telling me 3 days later they its "nothing" or they "could not find it".

Looks like a lot of people are experiencing this.

Well I take back what I said before. I was looking again today and it definitly is diesel fuel running down wire bundles behind the power stering pump and directly under the CP3. I reached with my hand and fingers as far as I could reach under the CP3 but could not find where the leak is. Anyone know exactly where the seals are on the CP3? I've seen other threads about this and it seems as though it may be a common problem. I undertand the pump goes for about 3 grand. Is that right? Glad its still under warrenty.
