Power steering cap blowing off

I've had the truck 11 months now and am on my third power steering cap!
Not sure why they are falling off, but starting to be concerned .
Is this a common problem or is it an indicator of a larger issue?
It looks like it's just rattling loose and I'm worried about what snow/rain and such getting into the resivour might do

Any thoughts?

Common issue, also causes leakage around your hoses. Do a search for "Power Steering Cap Mod" (or something like that) on here, you can disassemble the cap and drill a small hole in the dipstick part IIRC for relief. Did it on my 2003 and fixed the problem.

My PS resovoir is starting to become pressurized as well...... When I loosen the cap it will almost blow out of my hand. What exactly is causing the system to become pressurized? It's at the point now where the fluid is being pushed out of my PS cooler line connections.

I cant tell that mine is building any pressure inside it, actually the way the cap is designed, it might stay on better if it were!

I found the article/mod you mentioned I believe this is both mine and Jhensons issue:

I pulled mine apart this evening, and couldn't get a dremel bit in the little area to grind any plastic off, so I drilled a 1/64 hole through the outer cap directly above the check valve..
my thinking is that the hole is small enough, that in combination with the valve, should keep moisture and gunk out, but it should let the pressure escape as well as the cap would have if it worked as designed..
guess we'll see..

I'm thinking that maybe just washing it up real good would help....if not THEN you could drill the top. Just a thought
