Unhappy Blew power steering cap off while towing

I was pulling the travel trailer today and I wanted to change setting on the Edge ez. I lifted the hood and noticed some ATF+4 on the engine. I am very careful under the hood and I know the lid -was- on tight. $12.99 at the dealer bought a new cap.
Has anyone else had this happen? Why does pressure build up in the resevoir? Any real fix?

It has happened to others. Could put a small vent hole in the cap to relieve the pressure build up in the power steering.

The only other problem I have had with the truck was a busted power steering hose at 37k. (while towing) I am at 103k and the cap blew off and was lost. I wonder how widespread this problem is? If I could figure it out I would do a poll on 3rd gens with power steering hose, pump, and or pressure problems.

Blew my power steering hose (cross threaded at the P/S pump) at 14k.

i had a tiny pinhole in one of the pressure lines around 35000. dont know why. i was also wondering about the power steering because everytime i fill up and check my oil, i sometimes check my powersteering and it always has a decent amount of pressure on it. even when it is cold. Is a pinhole in the lid the trick?

Some members on the TDR added a vent hole on the cap and it seems to work.
