"Porkchop" tool boxes and tailgate support

Anyone use these tool boxes that fit in the nooks created by the wheel well hump inside the bed? I've only known them as porkchop tool boxes

I need a tool box, bad. I'm tired of running around without my good tools and all my fluids. I normally would use an over the rail but I'm hesitant to lose bed space. As it is I've had the 'I wish I had an 8' bed' conversations with myself as I like to close the tailgate when hauling. But I've always gotten the job done.

Also, is there some additional support for the tailgate? I hate traveling with it down. I'm afraid it'll fall off (from a heavy load) or break off (when it bounces with a light load).

What have you guys done?

I had a pair of them on my 01. They were Sears Craftsman boxes. The passenger side box had drawers with clips for the tools to stay in place. HD locking mechanism and very well made.
The drivers side box had a top lid and I stored the jack and larger stuff in there.
Not sure if they make them anymore. I sold them with the truck. I had a pair of cheaper aluminum ones on my 04. Not worth it. flimsy and no features other then a leaking lid and the lids never did fit right.

The Sears boxes were 340 for the one with the drawers with end door and 300 for the one with the top lid. The aluminum ones were 179 each.

On edit...I found the one box I had...

Looks like the price has come down and maybe the quality...

I use a couple of these with my bike. They work well. Of course they do not let the gate lay flat though.

I have not used the boxes but a friend got a cheapo and it is certainly cheap looking. They are pricey for the good ones though.

Here's another option.

I don't have this box, but I did put their Undercover SE tonneau cover on my wife's 1500, and the quality of it is excellent.

I currently have the Undercover truck bed cover and two Swing Boxes in my 03. The swing out feature is very useful. I highly recommend them.

I had 2 of them in my 01, along with a box that mounts to the tailgate, and I lobed them. I let the porkchop boxes go with the truck, since they were sprayed with the color matching bed liner. You can see pictures of them in my photo album. Before anybody asks, it took me 2 years to locate the tailgate box. I found one on eBay, and haven't seen one since. I got it in 04, for $100.

Weatherguard does have good products. Dad's got the over the rail that
has done well. My concern about the Weatherguard is the push button to open. With only one hand I have difficulty opening the box, sometimes the lid has to be held down while pressing the button at the same time, then pulled up. I think it's a symptom of the box sagging across the bed from the weight it carries. Anyway, I can't open it anymore. My old truck had the paddle handle and that worked pretty well for me. I know the type of handle seems trivial but for me and one hand, it's one of those details I do have to consider.
