plow

If you have the snow plow prep package it will not void warranty...I dont think DC would replace ball joints and front end from premature wear but the rest of the truck warranty is still there..Reason i ordered prep pac..

Thumbs up shop made bottom plow

Hey RamRod,

that's funny - 8 bottom plow!

Years ago in the shop I fabricated a single bottom plow that I mounted in the receiver of my 2nd gen '98 V-10 auto 4WD... at 10K #, it tore up the lawn quite nicely.

Just goes to show that if you can think of it, someone somewhere under a shade-tree has done it!

It will all depend on how your truck is equipped and what plow you put on there. Go to Western's website and plug in your truck specs to see what is recomended. You just have to watch your front end weight.

My understanding is the snow plow prep package is diesel springs on the hemi truck. If you try to build your truck on the dodge website and add the plow prep with the diesel motor it takes the diesel out and puts in the hemi. I had a set of coils made custom to support my 8' 2" Boss Poly plow which weighs 860 pounds. It cost me $380. They added 900 pounds to the spring rate and 1.5" to height to level the truck. Took 1 hour to install my self. I had the same people make them for my 01 diesel too. No more bottoming out!

That must be another of the numerous errors on the dodge site. Our new 3500 SRW diesel has the plow package.

I have an 8ft Pro Plus Western on my 2500 and have no problems with it. I have 2' Daystar spacers on my truck and the front end squats a little bit with the plow lifted up all the way. FWIW, Western's website told me that a 7.5ft blade was all I could fit on it.

Thumbs up Snow Plow Prep - There are limits

When you install a plow to the front end of these trucks you are adding alot of weight. DC has set strict limits as to how much weight you can apply and still be within there specs. If you check with the plow manaufacturers website you will see that they set limits for each model truck. As soon as you get to 8' or bigger steel/poly or whatever you will be beyond there limits. There are lots of solutions as to how to handle these increased weights but you are near the edge of breaking your warranty. Smart idea is to buy the truck with the plow installed by the dealer. This way your covered and you can get the snow plow credit.
