The decrease in fuel consumption by the diesel will likely offset the disparity in price. Over the past 3 or so years I've been driving a diesel, I've seen the price range from slightly below regular gas to just over premium. MOST of the time, diesel is around mid-grade or less in these parts (So Calif).

Keeping it that long, you'll save in maintenance costs after around 100k miles.

It will tow WAY better!

Your exhaust will stink purdy

You get to hang out in this forum . . .

Is all that worth the extra $$$$$ to you? Only you have the answer to that question.

FWIW, the first time I towed with a diesel made my mind up that I'd never have anything else.

I pulled out my old info... not sure what they go for now, but I got my 04 HO for an extra $4600. Don't pay invoice.

What did you decide? I've gotta think you want a diesel if you're asking a diesel discussion group what we think...

I got a price on a SLT LWB Hemi for 27,940. I then aske how much extra a similar CTD would be and the price went to 34,300.

there are a few sites on line that will give you dealer invoice numbers.
the first number a sales dude will tell a casual shopper is generally list price.
work out the invoice numbers on the hemi and the diesel and see.
I got mine for invoice + destination, co-op advertising, holdback (3%) and another $800... then -$2500 mfg incentive making my bottom line "below" invoice. I'm a lousy negotiator and probably could have done better.

Good luck. The CTD is quite an engine though....
