Nice pics! Still waiting on my bumper for the '02...
I was hoping to have it before the end of January, but I guess not. At least I know it's a bumper worth waiting for.

Sweet man! Looks really good although i was kinda hoping it would have followed the grille line instead of being straight across. So was it worth the wait?

It was to me. The bumper is nice! I guess it depends on what a person wants.
The weight of the bumper is 155-160lbs. Weighed it on a scale with the shipping brackets attached. He doesn't have a website. Prices start around 1700- 1800 & go up depending on add ons etc.

Not too bad, but those bends are nasty. What did he use, a Harbor Freight kink-o-matic? A real tubing bender wouldn't crush in the tubing like that.

Nate...The bends are made on a standard tubing bender...The mandrel bender that will maintain the diameter through out the bend is very very expensive and most likely beyond the means of most shops. Only the really serious shops that bend a crap load of tubing can afford one.

Layne is a one or two man shop. His cousin used to help him. I have had my DOR for 6 years or so with 200k+ on it and it still looks as good as the day I bought it. Actually better since I had him make a lower valance later for me like he has for the 3rd & 4th gen trucks. Once you get one you can really appreciate the work he puts into them. I have had the pleasure of being to his shop several times and aside from making a great bumper he is just one heck of a nice guy.

That is what is impressive about Layne's work. I had several guys here at work that are certified welders & weld all kinds of alloys come look at his work. They all said to a man how good the guy is on a welder. To do that kind of super clean work on aluminum & all is the sign of a top notch welder. One of the engineers was scoping it out & he was very impressed with the bumper & how it is made. Like I said earlier ,I am VERY happy with the bumper & glad I waited for it to be made. You won't have it overnight or even in a month or 2 ,but if you can wait it may be for you.

Additionally you guys are getting a custom bumper very few people have. I would say for most of the aftermarket bumpers I really don't care for, but this was nice.

I am guessing a Muffler bender.

Real tube benders are not $. A JD2 is about 200$ + 200$ for a die.

That bumper is nice! So it is made from aluminum? Anyone know of a custom bumper fabricator in the Houston area? I would love to have one just like that, only I need it to be steel or heavily reinforced for tow hooks and a winch.
