perplexing problem

Lately when I turn the ignition off and pull the key out the radio keeps playing and the warning ding ding ding goes off when I open the door, and you can't lock the door with the key fob. Seems to quit after a few minutes.
Did I do something to make this happen ? HELP!!!!

148000 miles and this is my only problem, not bad.

Thanks
Gordon

I'd suspect you have a bad lift pump. The 3rd gens eat lift pumps

Actually check your ign switch. Might have some contacts getting together

Looks like something is wrong with the odometer too.

I know Kauai is a long ways away, but wow.. that's a lot of miles for an 05.

As far as your problem, I wouldn't know what it could be, I just wanted to comment on your miles. but..... I would try to jiggle the key to see what happens.. I would also time the cut off duration to see if it was constant or random.

If you got a short, it'll drain the batteries if left in the driveway for long periods of time.. apparently that doesn't happen....

My DC minivan has a cut off delay for the radio, but it immediately turns off when the door is open.

He's got the miles from driving every day to his job.

Texas to Kauai. That must be at least 5000 miles one way.

Sounds like a short in the counsel. I would take it in before you have a dash fire. It maybe something as simple as a wire rubbing somewhere. Finding it maybe fun.

As for the miles. These guys have no idiea how many miles one can rack up when your driving for a livin. The mans a hot shot driver & works his truck daily, probably racks up 500 miles or more a day. I know I average 400 miles a day in my tanker.

I appreciate all of your help. I don't think that it can be termites because I had the Orkin man out to spray for roaches in the truck and check for termites, none where found. I am going to take it to the dealer when I get time.(It takes a while to row a 3500 across the ocean). I will let you know what they find.

Update: 149394 miles on the old girl, its been a slow week.
