Passenger Door Wires - Known Issues ?

Im curious about the wires that run through the door hinges on the passenger doors on the quad cab. Years ago i repaired 4 wires on the right side pax doors. The wires were broken and the door locks would not work. A few months ago i had the left side replaced under warranty due to the same problem. They replaced the entire harness in the door. Does anyone know if the harnesses have been ungraded. Is this a common problem ?

Must be a Canadian thing. When I got my '03 nothing for the back doors worked(locks, windows, speakers, etc) the wires on both sides were broken. Dealer wanted like $350CDN for each harness so I ended up just fixing mine.

cLAYH,

I'm having some issues with my back doors as well, and have not had time to dig into them yet. Where did you find the breaks and what did you have to do to fix the problem. Looking at them i'm not even sure the best way to get that rubber conduit off in a way that it will go back on .

TAke the door panel off, and then remove all of the wiring clips. Gently pull back the rubber conduit, it will expose the clip retainer. It all comes out without damage. Then carefully remove each clip in the connector one at a time to solder in a new more flexable wire with more fine strands. As they say reverse order for install.

Same problem, the locks will go then the windows. The wires are just a little short. All I did was pull the boot to one side, you can see where the wires have been streached, cut them all and splice in a few inches, good as new, well maybe better than new.
