P0191/left key on
P0191/left key on
Check engine light on
Checked for codes and found P0513?
Oil Stop used scan tool and found P0191
After researching the site, I beileve this happened after the key was left on.
Why does scan tool show P0191 and the vehicle show P0513?
Does the scan tool pick up any codes that may have been in the memory?
FYI -AutoZone manager told me due to a new California law, they cannot clear codes anymore.

There is a flash for the P0191, the other says Skim Key, maybe your anti-theft is starting to fail and it is intermittently recognizing the key?
I've had codes and check engine lights that went away after a few days of commuting and never resurfaced. These things have more gremlins than Phoebe Cates.

Hey thanks for the response. The truck is not under warranty, do you think the dealer will flash the computer since there was a bulletin on this subject?
Peace
I think I will try and change the batteries in my key fob, maybe they are wearng down.

Sorry for the delay.
Flashes are only covered in-warranty, don't know what they would charge.
The chip portion of the key doesn't require a battery, the battery in the key is for functions only.

I had the same problem with the check engine light being on after the wife left the key on all night and drained the batteries down although I don't recall getting any codes. The code could be due to the batteries going below a certain thershold of charge but I'm no expert on these things. Fortunately the check engine light went out after a couple days of driving which charged the batteries back up and there doesn't seem to be any residual problems.
