Overhead comp mpg
Overhead comp mpg
I just checked my mileage by calculator and I'm getting 21.14 mpg, although the overhead comp is averaging 17.9-18.5, down from around 19-19.5 mpg on the overhead. I was really starting to have some concern as to what caused the drop in fuel mileage because I've had the CP3 pump replaced due to leakage. I must say I'm happy with the hand calculation! Is there a TSB or fix for the faulty OH comp readings?

There is a TSB for the 04.5's, but I'm not sure if it applies to the 03's. My guess would be that it does. I had it done on mine and am getting 1-3 mpg better by hand calc. and the overhead comp. has been within 2/10's of a mpg for about 6 tank-fulls now. Thats close enough for me.

Same here. My overhead will indicate 19.5 mpg and while actually be 21 mpg from hand calculation. I just use the overhead for the trip mileage/compass/outside temp features. But whats really cool is to drive 55mph and watch the overhead indicate 26mpg!

Eversince I had my injectors flushed, my mileage got a little worse but mo overhead reads 3MPG better than hand calculated. It reads 24MPG and hand calculation is 21MPG. Is there any way to reset it?

Here is the site for the tsb to improve overhead accuracy--also should improve actual mpg as it did for me:

After the reflash, my overhead and hand calc are usually pretty close, off by no more than .3 mpg up or down, sometimes right on the money. With perfect driving conditions and unloaded--and if I keep rpm's under 2000, I can expect 20 and change. My last fill with mixed driving including one 90 mile tow of my boat, I averaged 18 over 450 miles.

you can reset the mileage just like you reset the odometer and the elapsed timer.
I reset mine periodically. The calculation is done with a combo of historical and instantaneous measurements. Mine has been within about 1 mpg of matching hand calculated if I reset it when I tow or drive stop/go or highway etc. BTW hand calculated can vary a bit too depending on how much you top off.

Mine use to be right on the money if I reset it at each fill. Ever since I installed the Edge EZ a year ago my mileage went up and so did the overhead but it now is way high. If the overhead reads 24 I am getting 20-21 thats empty, towing it reads 17.4 when I am getting 15.
