Took my truck to dealer because it won't shift into overdrive and cruise control won't work.<br><br>While doing the write up work the service advisor tells me that there must be something to this because the person who came in before me has the exact same problem.<br><br>Anyway the short story is this.<br><br>They want to replace the PCM. Problem is the PCM is on national backorder and the best date they will give me is July 2nd. In the mean time I can't drive the truck because if I drive over 55mph it will somehow damage the truck and that won't be covered by warrenty so the truck sits at the dealers.<br><br>I have to say that this is one of the bigger BS stories I have ever had the misfortune to be involved in. <br><br>Now I get to ponder how it is that the most expensive vehicle I ever bought has left me stranded and what can I do about it. <br><br>

 

:-[Sorry to here about your situation. I had the same problem just last week, No overdrive or cruise. I told the dealer that I was sure it was the pcm, after waiting over two hours while they went through checks they said I was right. Told me I would have to leave truck and it would be a few days. &gt;I raised H@#@, I told them I would not go through what I had went through earlier this year with the new 2003 2500 HEMI (another story DC buyback ) They gave me a new rental and pulled a new truck off lot and took pcm off and said truck would be ready next day. Picked it up next day worked fine used it for 4 days until new PCM arrived. 20 min to install I was on my way. Good luck hope they gave you something to drive. My dealer did not say anthing about PCM on backorder. Goodluck

 

SS Impala 396<br><br>They did provide a rental at their expense only after I told them what I thought of the situation. I'm now driving a GMC Sonoma.<br><br>They told me they were going to take a PCM from a truck on the lot but they couldn't do it because the PCM is somehow connected to the VIN number of the vehicle it's in.<br><br>I haven't given up yet but it's hard to get the time to research the problem and see if there is anything I can do to speed things up.<br><br>I would be interested in who your dealer is because they didn't seem to have any problem finding a replacement PCM. <br><br>How many other people are having this problem with overdrive and cruise?????

 

My Dealer is Hernstein Chrysler they are a local here, was not my first choice but they got me in quick. They tried to tell me the same thing about Vin #s it is true, but, one from another truck will work. I believe that the most that could happen is a check engine light would come on when it went through its diagnostics. I ran mine for 4 days with the borrowed one and did not have a problem. Goodluck on getting it taken care of

 

Just a thought abouts part that are in &quot;National Backorder&quot; status.<br><br>I now have to wait three weeks for a replacement PCM to come in before I can get my truck back yet new trucks are being built every day. Obviously there is no shortage of parts on the assembly line. <br><br>Seems to me that DC is much more concerned about selling new trucks than taking care of those who have already bought one.<br><br>
