Ok, when buying a CTD - SWB vs. LWB

That is not what I meant at all. I meant you could haul alot of stuff without having to use a trailer! With a short bed you have to use a trailer to haul alot of stuff.

Best advice yet: MEASURE your garage first. That is if it will be garaged.
I have a shorty and im not sure if i'd go to a long bed truck.
I'lll throw out my reasons.
1) I dont believe sleeping in the bed of a truck is reason to get a longbed.
2) Tailgates do come down.
3) Trailers still attach to the shortbed the same way, and even manuever better this way too!
4) Parking. Some places you just cant "park at the end of the lot" when theres only 16 parking spaces total to begin with.
5) I do go offroading.
6) Adding Nerf bars and bed caps cost more for LWB.
7) Extra 2ft of body to wash when it comes time (okay i ran out of reasons at #6)
Really need to consider what you need it for now and plan on needing it for in the future.

That's why I was considering a LB - more for the long haul (no pun intended)! Not might need it as much right now, I sure could use the extra space in the bed for hauling some things from up north - however I am looking more to a camper for the wife and kids down the road with perhaps some dirt bikes and or quads.

I bought the longbed because I was putting a toolbox in the back and still wanted the extra room for my 4-wheeler, camping stuff, whatever... I had shortbeds in all my other trucks and always needed the extra room. I also park my truck in the middle of nowhere so it doesn't get hit and is easy to park. I will never own another shortbed truck.

There is something to be said about an "8 foot bed that never has to made" . The same could be said for a 6.5 footer. I have the MegaCab and I think that if Dodge put a 8 footer on it they would sell like hot cakes even though it would be rediculously long

Personal preference. The shortbeds are better off road, but the long beds have a better ride on road. I haul firewood, motorcycles, musical equipement for my band... for me the long bed was a no brainer.
