Are you totally sure the highway dept workers drove those markers down "exactly" too?

Other than comparing my GPS speeds I've never bothered to check road side mile posts for accuracy.

I have found that the speedometer in my truck runs a little fast. We have one road where they have those signs with the detector in it. It says that at 45, my truck is reading 46 or 47 mph. This would account for the increased mileage.

we have a measured mile with lines on road and i trip 1 mile 100s of feet before i get to the end test line. on my other truck it was only a few before.
i take a trip that used to be 90 miles, now its 920miles.

WOW if it was 920 Miles just think of the MPG's the computer would be showing like 210 MPG......Sweet !

I have never checked my odo against the mile markers but
I think I will check it on the way home tonight.

Never occured to me it would be off, have you put different size tires on and not had the speedo recalibrated ?

Mine are still stock 265's so I will see how mine compares to the mile markers.

I check mine against the speedo test sections once in awhile and with stock tires that are brand new..its bang on..towards the end of the tire life it heads for 3 to 4% error...

Well I checked mine last night on the way home from work, pulled over at an even numbered mile marker. Set the trip odometer to 0 went 16 mile markers and the trip odometer read 16.0 miles.

I guess you can't get get any closer than that.

Thats on factory tires.

I don't know what my 04.5 does yet but my 95 was off quite a bit. I whined to the dealer so much that they put in a new gear in the trans and that took care of it. I think they do it on purpose. The warranty is up sooner.

Hey, it makes you think you're getting better mileage.
