mile marker classic style selectro hubs...
I think these came stock on the 89-90s...has anyone put them on a 91-93? From what I've heard they're much better than the Warn ones, and they look better too.

Selector hubs
My 81 Crew cab has them and I was wondering how reliable they were. BUT my main concern is with the current tire and wheel combination the hub itself is about an inch and half outside of the rim, so if I were to go wheeling the hub would be exposed. Not a good thing in my opinion.
As far as reliability, I have no experience with them. This is the first truck that I've seen them on.
Good luck.

I don't know if they are better or not but I was thinking today, as I cranked them around on my 89, how much easier it was than the other style that fills with ice/snow etc. Like it said, didn't even have to take off my gloves...
My 89 one ton has them. I am not positive but I believe the 3/4 tons did not. I don't see why they won't work, you can put a warn on a truck that didn't have lockout's so you should be able to put these in place of a warn. BTW where is the price guide. I would like to get 1 to replace the bad one on my truck ( broken set screw thread) and didn't see any prices.
I'm pretty sure these came on all 89-90 3/4 and 1 ton 4x4s. I have already had the plastic engagement ***** ice up on mine so I'd really like to get the Selectro style ones, I just like the look of them better also.

I have the old Selectros on my 1951 1 ton Power Wagon running 9.00 X 16 tires and the originals work great. Take a licking and keep on ticking.
I like the look and functionality. Seems like they used them on 1 tons and up. If they fit the CTD they would be a great upgrade!

I have run a few set's of these over the years. In fact my 1985 Dodge had them on it when I bought it *USAF truck* but they are the "external bolt on style"
I always liked them except for one draw back....I seemed to have an uncanny ability to get in situations where the mud/goo/whatever would manage to unlock one of them when I needed them most. (I never did sort out how this happened)
I swapped to the internal Chevy hubs/rotors/brakes which are almost exactly identical to the latter model trucks when I upgraded to 35 spline outer axles or I'd probably still be using them.
The set screws that "hold: the dial on are subject to corrosion..heavy salt climates make these a problem unless you stay on top of it. Steel set screw in a aluminum body it's unavoidable. But they are no worse than any other lockout and honestly when -20 they lock much better than most.

who should just run driveplates....I never unlock the hubs these days.

The external selectros on the older CTD trucks are not as strong as the newer warn interal hubs. They look cool as can be, but they're cast aluminum and it doesn't feel like you're holding onto much when you've got a disassembled unit in hand...
Agreed. Company had a couple of F-450's w/Marmon Harrington 80 front ends and the Selectro was the weak link.
