Non Sport to Sport Front Bumper
Non Sport to Sport Front Bumper
I recently picked up a sport front bumper cover for the rig, it's just the cover not the actual bumper behind it. My question is, with the sport cover fit over the chrome one I have on there now? Assuming I remove the top pad and the black fog lamp trim pieces that is. It looks darn close, i'm just curiuous as to if anyone on here has done this or has any input.
The sport cover will fit on the chrome bumper. The only difference between the SLT sport model trucks and the SLT model is that under the sport front bumber cover is a non-chromed bumper.
I tried fitting it today when I had some downtime, and I will deffinetly have to make some mods. The opening in the front on the the sport is square while the chrome is rounded in the bottom corners, so it hits there. Also the chrome bumper seems to be the same width as the cover, so the cover won't slip over both ends. The fog lamps and opening seems to line up fine.
Would anybody happen to have a pic of a sport bumper without the cover on it? I will more than likely have to break out the plasma cutter to trim the chrome bumper.

As RatherBeMuddin stated, there is a difference between the sport and non-sport bumpers.

I got around to installing it last weekend and I have to say it was a PITA! I trimmed a decent amout off the chrome bumper with the plasma cutter and the sport front cover still don't fit quite right. It don't like to fit over the corners all that well, this is even after trimming 6 to 8 inches in from the wheel leaving just the plastic bracing behind.
It works, it don't look bad, and it's not coming off of there, but to me it's just a little crappy. My advice for anyone that wants to do this is to find one that has the metal bumper underneath it along with the bracing, it will make life so much easier.
The real crappy thing is I will be in Texas next week business and will hopefully come back with a Ranch Hand bumper. This is what I really wanted, but I never wanted to pay for freight. So if anyone wants to try their luck with a cover, I may just have one for sale...

To me that is the only way to do it. God forbid I smack a dear now, there's not a whole lot of the chrome bumper left under there...
