Nitto A/T

I just put some Nitto Terra Grapplers (285 70 17) on the truck and it's wondering all over the road now. I checked the torque on the lug nuts and checked the tire pressure. Everything seems right.

Any idea's on why it feels so unstable?

I just installed a set of the 285-E's in place of a set of 40K mile BFG's. The ride is smoother, and the truck steers like a dream again. What are you running for air pressure? Empty truck, I run 65 front 55 rear.

The tires need to run through a couple of good heat cycles to remove the mold release and to firm up the tread. Takes about 500-1000 miles to do this.

The tire pressure is set to the factory setting of 65psi front and 80psi rear. I agree these tire do ride very nice in a straight line. They've really removed a lot of the harshness in the ride. The side to side movement on the other hand feels like the back end is going to break free when I maneuver. It's back at the shop right now. They are going to check the alignment. I don't think that's the problem. I'll post the outcome.

I agree. I have 295's... wearing out like crazy! I love the size of 'em, that's the only thing. Not many ppl make 295's.

The latest is Nitto won't warrantee the tires because they aren't the right application for the truck. The only thing that may not be right is the 285 part. Everything else is, weight, e-rated, 10 ply, speed, air pressure, wheel diameter, wheel width...

At this point in my 18 hours of ownership, I will never buy anything Nitto again.

I had a set of 37s.....wore them out in 10K miles.

They were SOOO sticky , I couldn`t even powerbrake the truck with them on.

They did ride nice , but pretty pricy to replace that often.

Latest update... Nitto still won't warrantee the tires, but the shop spent the day adjusting the air pressures and it's much better now. The truck is completely drivable now.

did you get the tire road-force balanced? It became necessary to rotate my tires frequently when i had them in the end, but mine did make it to 50k.
