Nitto crosstek?

I bought a set of these Yesterday. They were by the best deal I could find. I got a set of 285/70/17 E at NTB They had one of those buy 2 get 2 free scams going. Each tire was 245 each but the bill was 892????? To get deal you have to pay for a 3 year wheel alignment warranty (150) and 4 Road Hazard insurance at 40 a tire. So real fast we are 800 and then they charge for balance/ mount 17 a tire, Valve stem and disposal. But tax free weekend!!! So 900 out the door for four tires with Road hazard and a alignment I have to go back for. Bad Ball joint....

Anyone have these?, I took off a set of Nitto Terras. Not as agressive tread but they got the agressive looking side wall for non off road tire. So any complaints about wear? Took on highway for about 5 miles but couldnt get about 65mph with traffic. They felt good and quiet.

I put them at 65 front and 60 rear. They can go to 80 psi but I am all set with that

Just bought a set in June from NTB. Same size as yours. Got about the same deal.

So far so good. Went from BFG 315/70/17 which were anything but smooth or quiet to these.

One other thing I noticed is that the steering has improved. I don't seem to have the wandering I did with the BFGs. I also got the alignment deal, so maybe that has helped with the wandering issue.

Overall I happy with them.

So far I love them. Not sure if its the tire or maybe the fact that my old nittos leaked and probably needed to be balanced. Also not all that smooth. These real nice and smooth

Next shocks. I got moogs off Advanced Auto parts. Ordered them online and picked up at store. I got the 15% off deal and 2 coupons for 50 off future purchase of 100 or more. So Shocks are coming at end of month

So, for a guy like me in a 2wd Mega Cab that is mostly on pavement, would you recommend these over the Terra Grapplers?

How do they compare to road noise. I like a quiet ride.

They are quieter, And probably better wear life than the Terra's. I had the terra's These ride real nice and smooth on highway. Its apples to oranges. The Terra's are a AT and these are a street tire with a AT look.

Well I have 15k on mine and wearing well. I contacted Nitto as I was running Nitto Durras and got great wear but wanted a little more off road tread. They said they would be a good choice with a little less tread life compared to Durras. @ 15k I'm still at 85% tread life so take my story as you will.

It's going to be a tough decision between the Dura and Crosstek for me.

I was leaning toward the crosstek, I liked the slightly more aggressive look, but they don't offer it in a 285/75/17

Another option is the latest Toyo ATII. This one comes with a 50K wear warranty. The p-rated ones carry a 65K warranty.

Hmm...that's a good looking tire, and according to the Toyo website its a 65K warranty:

Both Toyos and Nittos are excellent tires...getting decent mileage/wear out of them on our heavy trucks is the trick, but that us true of ANY tire manufacturer, including my favorite-- Michelin.
More importantly, tires from any one of those companies tend to be well built, easily balanced, quiet, smooth riding, and STRONG--in an LRE rateing they can handle ALOT of weight. That being said, it IS important to remember that when running a larger size tire UNLOADED to inflate only to a lower psi (try between 45 and 50 psi, front and back, unloaded) in order to keep the tread wearing EVENLY across the entire tread. Even thought they ride and handle GREAT at high psi, running at higher psi while unloaded tends to run the tires only on their center treads and then they wear out even quicker. Of course, if you load them, you have to increase psi accordingly.
