I tested my lights in the garage off of an old boat battery I had laying around, 2 worked, 3 did not. Believe it or not either the factory plugs or the recon plugs are directional, unplugged the ones that didn't work spun the plug and let there be light. So far no probs, with the cab lights.

I have read the Recon's on my truck for about 10 months now with only one going out on me. I am glad to hear that some of you hardwired your lights, I think I will be doing that just for piece of mind. Every morning when I let my truck warm up I am checking to make sure all my lights are working.

I thought the same thing the first time I hooked them up-so I also spun the connectors around before hard wiring them, but still no dice. The stock connector was pushing the wire off of the Recon plug when I put them back together, which is when I decided to cut all the plugs off of them and just hard wire them. A little bit of solder and heat shrink later, and no worries from now on.

Hardwiring is the way to go, no doubt, and I shoulda went that route too, but I got lazy.

My truck didn't come with factory light. Do you know if the wiring is under the headliner? Does the kit come with the wiring if I don't have it under my liner?

My clear lenses are starting to yellow.

I have the OG style non LED, so I can run white bulbs.

Thinking about getting a replacment set for the future before there all gone.

It's a $12 set of lights with lots of mark up

Have you tried hard wiring the one that is giving you trouble to see if that takes care of it? Those leds should last thousands of hours.

there is NO wiring under the headliner if your truck does not come with lights. I have been working with Heath and have sent him an install write up with pics. I will pull my right side A pillar and check which wire we used to provide power this weekend.

Thanks that will be very helpful. What size wire did you run? I would like the lights to come on with my parking lights. Where is the closest place to tap into the parking light circuit? A friend of mine who has a GMC ran the wire to the fuse box and wired in an "add a fuse" off the parking light fuse. Where did you ground to?

if you take your right side A pillar off (at least on 06 and newer) there is a white plug near the dash. What we did was take a meter and test each pin until we found one that was HOT with the headlight switch in the park and on position. I beleive that plug is for the stock cab lights and there is only a couple wires in there. You can ground to anything. We used 14ga wire since they are LED and do not draw much power.

here is the link to the write up. My buddy who works at an accessory shop here in town had the template to drill the new holes and he helped me wire things up.

i have to add. LUVNACUMINS on here is the one who sent me the original write up to do the lights. His write up along with my buddies help in town, we made this write up for Heath @ Recon.
