A new recon light problem

First, I have sent two emails to Recon and have not had any response from them. I just deal with the fact that the plugs quite possibly could be the cheapest chinese made plugs ever, but thats not the problem. Every couple months I have a light go out and have to re-set the plug, but I can deal with that.

Now my problem is one light only comes on at about 10% brightness. I have swiched locations and still have the same problem. I can see it come on very faint but can't get it to come on all the way. I would buy one light if i can but I dont want to overpay on a full set again for this cheap stuff.

for as much as those recon lights cost, I thought the quality would be a little better too. I kept getting a short in my recon taillights on the passenger side when I first got mine and the white cargo lights on the 3rd brake light are very dim

Probably should have mentioned that. They are the smoked cab lights.

I've got the smoked cab lights too, but haven't had any issues yet. The smoked 3rd brake light on the other hand. When my truck is running, doesn't matter if the lights are on or off. The cargo light in the 3rd brake unit is always on (very dim but always on). And when I do turn the cargo light on, its nowhere near as bright as the stocker.

ask for heath-that is who i have dealt with there. he has always taken care of any problem i have had. i had the first set (pre-production) of led cab lights on my truck, almost two years ago. i had problems with the older version- so they sent me a set of the led ones to run for a couple of months, for feedback- before they went into production.

I had the smoke cab lights and had three of them go out in a 2 month period. Heath at Recon did replace the lights but I went back to the stock lights and have not had a problem since. For what you spend on them the quality is not that good.

Mine have been on for a little over a month, I havent had problems yet. Although, my '07 didn't have plugs on the factory cab lights, so I had to cut the plugs off the Recons and hard wire them, which I have read on here is a better idea than trusting the cheap plugs in the first place.

Mine didn't have the plugs either. I hard wired them and haven't had a problem so far...which is about 2 months or so.

I have had my clear cab lights on for about 6 weeks now, and so far so good. The product does seem quite cheaply made for the not so cheap price you pay for them. With all the problems I am hearing about I am second guessing myself and thinking maybe I should have hard-wired them in.

I hard wired mine since my truck didnt come with cab lights, so i had to make my own harness. It was lots of fun, especially since the screws and o-rings they sent were such crap. I went to lowes and just got some good sheet metal screws... worked much better BUT even though they had bigger heads on them then the screws they sent, the o-rings would bulge out from the heads of the screws whenever you would tighten them down enough to be worth a crap. Still havent figured out what im gonna do about that b/c IF my lights leak, that will be where it is from as i siliconed the crap out of them everywhere else.

Ill probably end up seeing if i can find some washers just big enough to keep the o-rings from bulging and popping off the screws.

I have had mine on for a few months now and also hard-wired them, #1 because after I installed them the first time NONE of them lit up using the cheap plugs, and #2 the same thing happened when I hooked up my 3rd light, so I knew what to look for.
