This is some good information. Thank you ALL!!

I'll be buying a truck in about a month, or at least that's the plan. I would prefer to buy something off the lot, but some of you are making me wonder if that's going to be kind of hard to do, particularly at the price I want to pay. 3% under sounds like a great deal to me. I really haven't had a hard time test driving trucks that are close to what I want.

I have a California related question... is it true that California residents can only purchase these trucks from California dealers OR dealers in neighboring states? Seems that I read that somewhere, but I don't know if it's true or not.

Related to the above, for those of you who ordered your trucks, what kind of deposit do you have to put down initially? Any dealers in CA, NV, OR or AZ that sell at 3% under with good recomendations?

Tommygun may be a bit far for me to go. The idea would be for me to ride my motorcycle to the dealership, load the bike in the truck and drive back. It would be a very easy trip, as long as it's within 800 miles or so.

Is there a current site where you can build your own truck and get the wholesale price? KBB does not show the 600.

Any details on the FB rebate? I had heard there's a 45 day wait now, and have pretty much written that one off. There's also a possibility I can get in on the family and friends deal through DC, but I'm not sure about that yet.

Again, thank you all for your ideas and suggestions. Keep 'em coming.

Joel-
While I was shopping for my truck I used both www.cars.com and www.edmunds.com to build and price out options. At the time both were more accurate than the Dodge site (which didn't even mention the 600 yet) and both will give you the MSRP and invoice price for each option. I brought the cars.com quote to my dealer and the invoice price on the quote matched the dealer's invoice price exactly.

Hope this helps,
-Josh-

Joel,

I checked Costco and I was quoted $500 over invoice. I did what Dawall did and found a deal for $650 under invoice. For my truck, that's about 1.8% under invoice. EP would save me $150 because I would have to give up the Farm Bureau $500 rebate.

You're right on the Calif emissions trucks only available in Calif border states.

Also Farm Bureau is now 45 days. Sign up today!!! Costs $65, saves $500.

Lithia in Eugene OR was selling to Californians for $1000 under in early Feb. Call Eric Todd: 800-437-6496.

I have a $500 deposit on my truck. It was loaded on the train in Mexico today.

Kbb.com worked for me when I was pricing my truck and was more accurate than Edmunds. That was when they first changed over to the 600. It won't let you configure options that aren't allowed. (Like something that's only available on a Laramie on an SLT)

try carsdirect.com as your starting point to get your invoice price and call all the dealer in your area and only talk to the fleet mgr. Its true that california legal CTD can only be purchased from surrounding states. there is a dealer in Nevada and OR that you could get under invoice but I decided to go with a dealer in town because after one way air, fuel, lodging and most important, TIME to get my truck. I was only saving 3-$500. I got mine at $300 back of invoice and $2000+0% financing.

I second that. That's where I started and was able to work two dealers at the same time in order to get the best price.
